Barton Haynes

 

Barton Haynes is Director of the Duke Human Vaccine Institute at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham NC. Trained in Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases. he is known for his work on the ontogeny of the human immune system, for developing human thymus transplantation as a curative treatment for thymus aplasia, and for his work in HIV pathogenesis and HIV vaccine development. He is the Director of the NIH, NIAID Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology consortium and a principal investigator of a Vaccine Development Center of the Collaboration for AIDS Vaccine Discovery of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
