Dr. Manit Teeratantikanont

Dr. Manit Teeratantikanont received the Royal Award of the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant from HM The King of Thailand, in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication, in 2006.

He completed a Bachelor of Science (1973) and a Bachelor of Medicine (1975) degree, followed by a Master degree in Primary Health Care Management (1987) at Mahidol University, Thailand, and certification by the Board of Preventive Medicine, Thailand, in 1992.

Dr. Manit Teeratantikanont has devoted more than 30 years of his professional career to healthcare policy and administration at senior levels in Thailand, and internationally. His senior positions began in 1976-1984, when he was Director of Yang Talad Hospital, in Kalasin Province, Thailand. In 1999-2001 he was Deputy Director-General, Department of Health, and in 2001-2004, Deputy Director-General, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. He later became Inspector General (2004-2005), Deputy Permanent Secretary (2005-2007), then Director-General, Department of Medical Sciences (2007-2009), and finally became Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, in 2009.
