Capacity-Building Workshop: Correlates of Vaccine Protection to HIV

The Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise and the OCTAVE Project (Online Collaborative Training for AIDS Vaccine Evaluation) hosted a meeting of global experts in immunology and vaccine evaluation focused on correlates of vaccine protection to HIV.  Workshop participants took part in  a one day pre-meeting workshop in preparation for the a two day meeting where they discussed the latest insights about correlates of vaccine protection against HIV, how non-human primate models can best inform the field, and grappled with ways to study integrated immune responses within large scale vaccine efficacy trials.  During the pre-meeting workshop, faculty explored signatures of protection from successful vaccines in humans, including yellow fever, HPV and HBV, and translated key lessons from these examples to the search for correlates in the context of HIV vaccine clinical trials.
