Organized by the Enterprise in collaboration with UNAIDS and AVAC, this workshop focused on application of the Good Participatory Practice (GPP) guidelines for new investigators engaged in biomedical HIV prevention research, with a focus on HIV vaccines. The workshop was held as a satellite session in advance of the AIDS 2010 Conference in Vienna. Coming out of the workshop, participants were able to:
- describe the current ethical context of conducting biomedical HIV prevention research;
- identify the purpose and objectives of the GPP guidelines;
- leverage community engagement to support biomedical HIV prevention research outcomes; and
- review the minimum elements of Good Participatory Practice through the research lifecycle and discuss the barriers and facilitators for implementing them to effectively conduct biomedical HIV prevention research.
