Director, Enterprise Secretariat
The Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise (the Enterprise) is seeking a Director to lead the Enterprise Secretariat to implement policies, strategies and decisions made by the Enterprise Board.
Background
The Enterprise was first proposed in 2003 and in 2005 it published its first Scientific Strategic Plan; an updated plan was published in 2010. The field has continued to evolve and new challenges and opportunities have been identified requiring an adjustment of the original plans. The Enterprise Board of Directors, composed of representatives of the major HIV vaccine stakeholders, recently developed an updated vision of the Enterprise, one that will both complement the efforts of stakeholders and address the collective needs of the field to further accelerate our efforts to develop a preventive HIV vaccine.
Moving forward, the Enterprise will continue as an alliance of independent organizations dedicated to accelerating the development of a preventive HIV vaccine. The continued focus of the Enterprise will be to facilitate mutual coordination, collaboration, knowledge sharing and the optimization of resources and efforts in the field. The Enterprise Secretariat will work to ensure that the Enterprise mission is supported.
A small Secretariat currently located in New York, led by a Director, will oversee the development and implementation of a work plan focused on three key priorities as well as the ongoing engagement of a broader network of stakeholders to identify key issues and opportunities to inform the directions of the field and the Enterprise.
Specifically, the Enterprise will focus on these three efforts:
- Continue to organize the annual AIDS Vaccine Conference;
- Convene meetings of stakeholders to address priority strategic issues that have been identified by the Board or by participants of the annual AIDS Vaccine Conference, where a collective effort is most effective; and
- Organize an annual Funders’ Forum to optimize current resources and efforts and, where possible, to mobilize new resources and efforts to the field.
