Let’s Talk HIV Prevention in Entebbe, Uganda

Organizer: Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) and International Aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVI)

Location: Kasenyi landing site, Entebbe, Uganda
Date/Time: Monday, 29 November, 9:00 – 13:00

This meeting will take place at the Kasenyi landing site which is a fishing community located along the shores of Lake Victoria.  An ongoing UVRI project has demonstrated that people living in such fishing communities are at high risk of HIV and have an urgent need for more information about HIV and greater HIV prevention efforts.  The planned town hall meeting at the landing site will provide a forum for researchers to share important information on their findings about the HIV epidemic in this population.  Attendees will be community leaders, religious leaders, health officials and other community stakeholders and they will be provided with information to assist them in linking their communities to essential services including HIV testing, PMTCT, HIV treatment and care, family planning and basic health care.
