The Institute of Human Virology (IHV) is the first center in the United States - perhaps the world - to combine the disciplines of basic science, epidemiology and clinical research in a concerted effort to speed the discovery of diagnostics and therapeutics for a wide variety of chronic and deadly viral and immune disorders - most notably HIV, the cause of AIDS. Formed in 1996 as a partnership between the State of Maryland, the City of Baltimore, the University System of Maryland and the University of Maryland Medical System, IHV is an institute of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is home to some of the most globally-recognized and world-renowned experts in the field of human virology.

The Division of Basic Science and Vaccine Research of the Institute of Human Virology is seeking several full-time motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join an active research group studying the relationships among antibody specificity, neutralization, Fc-mediated effector function, and protective immunity against HIV-1.  Successful candidates will work in a highly collaborative multi-project environment with the goal of understanding antibody-mediated protection against HIV-1. 


This program is multidisciplinary and positions are available for candidates who have doctoral level (Ph.D., M.D.) training in one or more of the following areas:  antibody mediated cellular cytotoxicity, protein crystallography, viral particle imaging by confocal microscopy, fluorescence polarization spectroscopy, human monoclonal antibody isolation, protein expression and purification, immunochemistry, and HIV-1 neutralization.
