Johnson & Johnson completed the tender offer for Crucell N.V. (Crucell) on 22nd February 2011 and declared the offer unconditional. As a result, Crucell will now operate as the center for vaccines within the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceuticals group.

Headquartered in Leiden, the Netherlands, Crucell currently employs 1400 people and has offices in China, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK the USA and Vietnam.



The Vaccine Generation group is part of the Innovation and Discovery Laboratory and focuses on the research and development of vaccines against infectious diseases. 

The Vaccine Generation group is involved in a wide range of vaccine R&D programs (e.g. Tuberculosis, Malaria, HIV, Ebola and Marburg vaccines). The group is responsible for the generation, production and characterization of recombinant viral vectors, for applied research in the vaccine field and responsible to produce reagents to support other R&D groups in the organization.

Job Description:
The student will be involved in the generation, production and characterization of viral vaccines at lab scale. Techniques include DNA cloning, PCR, cell culture, transfection of cells, expression analysis and virus infectivity assays.


Minimum Qualifications:

We are looking for a very motivated student preferably with experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and virology. The right candidate is accurate, flexible, independent and a team player.

The most important competences for this position are accuracy, planning and communication capabilities. In addition, you need to be flexible, eager to learn and have a critical attitude.
